NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has selected Eden Hernandez of North Central as Student-Athlete of the Week in women’s wrestling on Tuesday afternoon.
Hernandez, a freshman, was 4-0 with victories over two All-Americans to claim the 117-pound bracket at the Quad Cities D3 Invite in Rock Island last Sunday.
The San Clemente, Calif. native pinned Aurora's Sharon Moreno in 40 seconds in her opening bout before pinning Randolph's Kylie Brigman in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal round, Hernandez defeated Carthage All-American Natalie Majer by fall. In the finals, she ousted Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s All-American RoseAnn Marshall by a 10-2 score.
