NAPERVILLE – A pre-championship poll submitted by league head coaches earlier this month tabbed North Central as the favorite to earn its eighth consecutive first-place finish at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship this Friday and Saturday in Kenosha, Wis.

Men’s competition begins Friday at 10:45 a.m. inside the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center on the campus of Carthage College with the heptathlon. The championship continues Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The championship awards ceremony is scheduled for approximately 5:45 p.m. Saturday night.
 
Advance online ticket sales are available at this link. Adult admission is $10 per day, while admission for seniors (65+), students and children ages 6-14 is $5 per day. Children ages 5 and younger will receive free admission. Current students at a CCIW institution will receive free admission when presenting a student ID. 
 
The Cardinals were on top of eight ballots to record the maximum 64 points possible in the poll. NCC was ranked 11th in USTFCCCA Division III ratings index released on Tuesday – the only CCIW squad to appear in the top 25. NCC has won seven CCIW indoor titles in a row and all but one of the championships contested since 2001.
 
Illinois Wesleyan was second in Thursday’s poll with one first-place vote and 55 points. The Titans tied for second place in last season’s event were ranked ninth in the Midwest Region on Tuesday. 
 
Augustana was picked third, followed by Carthage and Millikin in a fourth-place tie. The Firebirds – who will host this weekend’s meet – tied with IWU for second place in the team standings a year ago.
