NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) unveiled its All-Conference Men’s Tennis Team on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year is Ramon Vilarroig Martinez of North Central. Carthage freshman Finn Morris was voted CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year and David DeSimone, now in his fourth season at Augustana, was tabbed CCIW Coach of the Year for the first time.
 
Vilarroig Martinez, a graduate student from Castellon, Spain, is now a two-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year after previously earning the award as a sophomore in 2022.  Vilarroig Martinez was unbeaten in CCIW play – 6-0 at #1 singles and 6-0 at #1 doubles. He is one of two NCC student-athletes to claim the postseason honor from the CCIW, joining Sam Sweeney, who was selected in three consecutive years from 2009 through 2011. 
 
Morris was 4-0 for the Firebirds in singles competition. He also paired with Luca Okino and Cyriac Cayuela to combine for a 6-1 mark at #3 in the lineup in doubles play. The selection marks the third consecutive year and fifth time since 2017 the First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year has come from Carthage.
 
The Vikings went 6-1 in conference play under DeSimone’s leadership, securing a share of their first league championship since 2021. Augie won five consecutive dual matches to close the regular season, including a 4-3 win over fellow league winner North Central at April 12.
