NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) selected its Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week on Wednesday for competitions scheduled between Monday, March 31 and Sunday, April 6.
Track: Alyssa Busker, Elmhurst, Graduate Student (Plainfield, Ill.)
Busker claimed first place in the 200 meters at the Chicagoland Invitational last Saturday in 23.95 seconds – a new Elmhurst record. It was the fastest performance in the CCIW this outdoor season and ranked second among times in Division III. She also ran the second leg of EU’s winning 4x400 meter relay.
Field: Nicole Tarpley, Carthage, Graduate Student (Bloomingdale, Ill.)
Tarpley was a double winner in the hammer throw and discus last weekend at the Wisconsin Private College Championships in Milwaukee. She established a new lifetime best in the discus in 45.61 meters – sixth on the NCAA list and first in the CCIW. Her hammer-throw mark was also a career best at 51.09 meters, ranked third in the CCIW and 13th on Division III list.
