North Central Favored for 7th Straight CCIW Men's Outdoor Title

NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) men’s outdoor track & field head coaches selected North Central as the favorite to win its seventh straight CCIW Championship when competition begins Friday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville.

NCC was awarded the maximum point total (64) from the ballots collected last month, earning eight first-place votes overall. The Cardinals totaled 167 points at last year’s championship, their highest mark since hitting 193 in 2021.
 
The other first-place vote went to Augustana, which tied with Illinois Wesleyan for second position in the rankings with 53 points. The Vikings will be aiming to win the league’s annual postseason event for the first time since going back to back in 2016 and 2017.
 
Fourth position went to Carthage with 43 points. Millikin (36 points), Wheaton (29 points) and North Park (19 points) occupied the fifth through seventh slots, respectively. Elmhurst was eighth and Carroll was ninth.
 
The championship will begin Friday at 10 a.m. with field events. Track events follow Friday at 2:30 p.m. Saturday’s events will have a 9:30 a.m. start. The post-championship awards ceremony is slated for approximately 6:25 p.m.
