ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – North Central defeated Wheaton 4-0 and Augustana prevailed versus Carthage 4-3 on Friday to set up the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Tennis Championship final on Saturday between the Cardinals and Vikings in Rock Island, Ill.
The results mark the fifth straight trip to the final for the Cardinals. Augustana will be back in the championship match for the first time since 2021, a match they dropped to NCC, 5-4.
The Cardinals promptly won the doubles points versus Wheaton on Friday, then received straight-sets singles wins from CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year Ramon Vilarroig Martinez, Philipp Wottgen and Henry Ros.
Carthage was the winner of the doubles point in the afternoon semifinal, forcing Augie to notch four wins to rally to win the match. Arthur Hermange and Nicolas Navarro won in straight sets before David Larraga and Tim Philip secured three-set wins for AC’s 4-3 dual win.
