NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The margins in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women’s soccer are so thin that draws are inevitable and the two players selected as the CCIW Women’s Soccer Players of the Week contributed to a series of ties in the past seven days. Izzy Jones of Millikin netted a hat trick to help the Big Blue to a draw with Wheaton, picking up Offensive Player of the Week honors. Augustana’s Sar Schinker came up big in goal for the Vikings and secured a point for her side in a 0-0 deadlock against North Park, earning Defensive Player of the Week recognition in the process.

Offensive

Izzy Jones, Millikin (Forward/Defender, Junior, Olathe, Kan.)

After trailing Wheaton College 1-0 at the half last week, Jones came out in the second half and scored a hat trick in a 25-minute span of play, picking up her 11th, 12th, and 13th goals of the season. All three of those goals were needed as the Thunder came back and scored twice in the last eight minutes as the sides split the points. 

Defensive

Sara Schinker, Augustana (Goalkeeper, Senior, La Grange, Ill.)

Schinker’s play in goal helped Augustana to a non-conference win midweek at Coe before a tie with North Park University over the weekend. Facing the Kohawks, Schinker made three saves in a 5-1 Augustana victory. The Vikings then got their first point of the CCIW season as they played NPU to a 0-0 stalemate that featured seven saves from Schinker.
