NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The start of College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play in women’s soccer brought a number of competitive matches and many deserving nominees for this week’s CCIW Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week Awards. Ultimately, the offensive contributions of Carthage College senior Peyton Olinski and goalkeeping prowess of Millikin University sophomore Jessica Bearley set them apart from their peers after a back-and-forth 2-2 draw between the two programs on Saturday.

Offensive

Peyton Olinski, Carthage (Midfielder, Senior, Bloomingdale, Ill.)

Olinski was involved in all three Carthage goals this past week, giving the Firebirds a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute of an eventual 1-1 midweek draw at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Opening up CCIW play against Millikin, Olinski netted the opening goal in the 31st minute to put Carthage on top before assisting on the game-tying goal in the 85th minute to secure a point against Bearley and the Big Blue.

Defensive

Jessica Bearley, Millikin (Goalkeeper, Sophomore, Columbia, Ill.)

Opening the week on the road at Washington University in St. Louis, Bearley stood up to a barrage of shots from the Bears, turning away nine in 80 minutes in goal and keeping Millikin within two goals of the nation’s top-ranked team. Facing Carthage in the CCIW opener for both squads, Bearley made another 12 stops to keep the Big Blue in the match and open up conference play with a hard-fought road draw.
