North Park Wins in 2OT, Elmhurst Advances in CCIW Men’s Hoops Quarterfinals

NAPERVILLE — Tuesday’s quarterfinal round of the 2026 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Championship concluded with #4 North Park defeating #5 Wheaton, 107-100 in double overtime, and #3 Elmhurst posting a 95-85 win over #6 Carroll. With those results, North Park and Elmhurst advance to Friday’s semifinal round at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill.
 
Friday’s semifinal schedule will feature #3 Elmhurst against #2 Carthage in the opening game, followed by #4 North Park against top-seeded Illinois Wesleyan. Illinois Wesleyan is reigning tournament winner and will host on its home floor.
 
#4 North Park def. #5 Wheaton, 107-100 (2OT)
North Park advanced with a 107-100 double-overtime win over Wheaton at Carlson Gymnasium in a game that featured 18 ties and 13 lead changes. Neither team created separation until the closing minutes of the second overtime period.
 
North Park’s 107 points are two shy of the all-time tournament record for a winning team, set by Augustana with 109 points in 2021. The Vikings were led by Mike Vuckovic, who finished with 26 points and six assists, while Kolden Vanlandingham added 19 points and Lazario Cornish scored 17. North Park shot 57.1% from the field in the second overtime.
 
Wheaton was led by Soren Richardson, who scored 36 points and added eight rebounds in 49 minutes. Devin Martin contributed 20 points.
 
North Park converted 30-of-38 free throws (78.9%) and also generated key second-chance points. The Vikings will seeking their first tournament title since 2023, and the win moves them into a semifinal matchup with #1 Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington.
 
#3 Elmhurst 95 def. #6 Carroll, 95-85
Elmhurst earned a 95-85 win over Carroll at R.A. Faganel Hall to advance to the semifinal round. The Bluejays outscored the Pioneers 50-41 in the second half.
 
Aidyn Boone led Elmhurst with 27 points, shooting 8-of-9 from the field and 7-of-7 at the free-throw line. Dominic Trelenberg and Luke Smith each added 16 points. Elmhurst finished 31-of-37 at the free-throw line (83.8%).
 
Carroll’s Michael McNabb scored a game-high 36 points and collected five rebounds. His 36 points were three shy of the CCIW Tournament individual scoring record of 39, set by Wheaton’s Kent Raymond in 2007. Carroll held the lead for more than 18 minutes.
