Augie's Garcia Posts Unbeaten Week, Earns CCIW Men’s Tennis Honor

NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced Augustana junior Aingeru Garcia as the league’s Men’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Garcia posted a 6-0 record across singles and doubles competition during the week, competing at No. 1 doubles and No. 6 singles.
 
In Augustana’s 5-2 win over Wheaton on Saturday, Garcia and Jorge Marcelo recorded a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Garcia followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
 
Against North Central on Sunday, Garcia and Marcelo earned a 7-6 (7) decision at No. 1 doubles in a conference match. Garcia also won his singles match, 6-2, 6-1. Earlier in the week, he also won at No. 1 doubles and No. 6 singles in non-conference play against St. Ambrose.
 
The Bilbao, Spain, native has helped Augustana to a 2-2 start in conference play. Augustana is 6-9 overall and will return to action Wednesday at home against Millikin.
