CCIW Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week: Curulewski, Gonzalez

NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its latest Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week honorees on Tuesday. Carthage senior Jacob Curulewski was named Track Student-Athlete of the Week, while Illinois Wesleyan senior Gavin Gonzalez received Field Student-Athlete of the Week recognition.
 
Track: Jacob Curulewski, Carthage

Curulewski earned the conference honor following his performance in the 5,000-meter run at the UW-Platteville Invitational. The Downers Grove, Ill. native placed 11th in the event with a time of 14:13.57. The mark lowered his own school record, leads the CCIW this season and ranks 13th in NCAA Division III.

Field: Gavin Gonzalez, Illinois Welseyan
Gonzalez was recognized after his performance in the javelin at the Greenville Select Meet. A senior from Mattoon, Ill., Gonzalez won the event with a throw of 60.87 meters (199' 8"). The mark broke a 31-year-old Illinois Wesleyan school record previously set by John Munch in 1995. Gonzalez now ranks first in the CCIW and 15th in Division III.
