NAPERVILLE – North Central freshman Daniel Kasperan and Augustana junior Landon Wierenga have been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week after their performances last weekend.
Track: Daniel Kasperan, North Central
Kasperan earned track honors following his performance in the 10,000-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California. Competing against a strong field, the North Central freshman finished in 30:22.90 to set a new program freshman record. His time currently ranks third in the CCIW and 30th in NCAA Division III this season.
Field: Landon Wierenga, Augustana
Wierenga was selected as the field honoree after winning the hammer throw at the Augustana Meet of Champions in Rock Island. The Augustana junior recorded a lifetime-best mark of 62.12 meters, which leads the CCIW and ranks second in Division III. The mark also stands as the third-best performance in program history.
