North Central Begins CCIW Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Title Defense Friday

KENOSHA, Wis. — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship is scheduled to begin Friday morning at Art Keller Field on the campus of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. North Central was selected as the team favorite in the pre-championship coaches’ poll.

Daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors ages 65 and older and students. CCIW students with a current ID and children ages 5 and under will be admitted free. Fans unable to attend can follow live results through Trackside Timing or watch the live stream on the CCIW Network.
 
The Cardinals received 63 points and seven first-place votes, while Augustana was second with 53 points and the remaining two first-place votes. Carthage was third with 50 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan with 48 points and Wheaton with 32 points. Millikin was sixth with 28 points, Carroll was seventh with 27 points, Elmhurst was eighth with 12 points and North Park was ninth with 11 points.
 
NCC enters the championship as the seven-time defending team champion, a streak that dates back to 2018. The Cardinals have won 42 CCIW team titles since the first conference championship was held in 1947. Augustana ranks second in league history with 15 team titles, with its most recent championship coming in 2017.
 
Competition will begin Friday with the men’s decathlon at 10:15 a.m. Friday’s field event finals include the hammer throw at 12:30 p.m., long jump at 1:30 p.m., pole vault at 3:30 p.m. and javelin at 5 p.m. The first track event champions will be crowned Friday evening in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 6:30 p.m. and the 10,000-meter run at 7:45 p.m.
 
The decathlon will resume Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a full schedule of field events beginning at 11 a.m. The main section of track finals is scheduled to begin with the 4x100-meter relay at 2:40 p.m. and conclude with the 4x400-meter relay at 6:05 p.m. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 6:25 p.m. to recognize individual and team champions.
