NEW ORLEANS --- Charlotte Frere of the Augustana Vikings women's track and field team has been named the USTFCCA National Athlete of the Week.
Frere earned this honor after her performance at the Augustana Pentultimate Qualifier this past week. The senior crushed a 34-year-old NCAA DIII discus record, throwing 56.59 meters, surpassing the previous mark by five feet, which had stood since 1992. Frere now owns three of the top-four marks in division history, all from this season at Augsutana events.
This is the third time that Frere has been named the National Athlete of the Week during her outdoor career. Her last recognition was on April 20 of this year.
