CCIW announces 2021 indoor track & field awards

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced Friday the winners of the 2021 Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year. 

Additionally, the CCIW announced this year's all-conference recipients, which were determined by the CCIW's Honor Role at TFRRS and were based upon performances between January 30 and March 6. The top 8 individuals and top 4 relays in each event were designated "all-conference".

2021 CCIW Women's Track Athlete of the Year

18947Rebekah Harden - Illinois Wesleyan
Harden was part of four top conference finishes between January 30 and March 6. She led the conference in three individual events including the 800 (2:19.65), the indoor mile (5:09.51) and the 3,000 (10:20.51), which ranked 23rd, 16th and 12th on the NCAA Division III national list, respectively. She was also part of the CCIW's top distance medley relay team (12:49.89) and second place 4x400 relay (4:06.54).

2021 CCIW Women's Field Athlete of the Year

18944Ayana Blair - Illinois Wesleyan
On the final day of the CCIW regular season, Blair achieved lifetime bests in both the weight throw and shot put on March 6. Blair finished with a mark of 13.69 meters (44-11) in the shot put, which ranks first in the CCIW and seventh on the NCAA Division III national list. her mark of 17.33 meters (56-10 1/4) in the weight throw ranks first in the CCIW and third in Division III.  

2021 CCIW Men's Track Athlete of the Year

18946Gabe Pommier - North Central
Pommier ran the indoor mile three times this season, posting times of 4:13.29 on February 6, a personal record time of 4:09.10 on February 19, and 4:09.39 on March 5. His mile time on February 19 ranked first in the CCIW and in NCAA Division III. Additionally, his best 800 time of 1:56.64 is second in the CCIW. 

2021 CCIW Men's Field Athlete of the Year

18945David Bradley - Wheaton
Bradley took first place in the pole vault in all four regular season meets that Wheaton competed in this season. His best mark came on February 26 where he tallied a height of 4.90 meters (16-0 3/4), which ranked first in the CCIW and fifth on the NCAA Division III national list. This mark is nearly 45 centimeters better than the second place mark in the conference.
