NAPERVILLE – Tyler Leslie of Augustana repeated as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week in men’s swimming on Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday’s announcement marks the second time in Leslie’s career he has earned Student-Athlete of the Week honors from the CCIW in consecutive weeks.
Leslie had an outstanding weekend for the Vikings at the Grinnell Invitational. He started out Friday with a 4:42.59 in the 500 freestyle, then followed with a preliminary swim of 45.99 seconds in the 100 freestyle to set a meet record.
In the 100 freestyle final, he won the event and lowered his meet record to 45.71 seconds. Leslie also led off Augie’s 200 freestyle relay with a split of 21.14 seconds.
On Saturday the junior forward broke his meet record in the 200 freestyle in the prelims with a 1:40.72. In finals he set a new Augustana record with in 1:40.40. His untapered 100 and 200 swims were all lifetime bests.
