Vikings Set Early Tone at CCIW Men's Championship With Men’s 800 Free Relay Win

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — Augustana opened the swimming portion of the 2026 Men’s College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Swimming & Diving Championships with a conference title on Wednesday night at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., winning the men’s 800-yard freestyle relay.
 
The Vikings’ relay of seniors Tyler Leslie, Oskar Bannister and Mark Addison, along with freshman Emanuel Anguelov, touched first in 6:40.85. Augustana improved its seed time of 6:52.67 by nearly 12 seconds to secure the top spot on the podium.
 
Wheaton finished second in 6:57.29 behind Jed Ritchie, Zachary Kohoutek, Isaac Eilmes and Sam Yonan. Carthage placed third at 7:02.40 with AJ Landorf, Will Murray, Aidan Nord and Tyson Politsch.
 
Carroll rounded out the championship final field in fourth place with a time of 7:44.41.
In the “B” final, Augustana’s second entry posted the fastest time of the heat at 6:59.28, followed by Wheaton (7:13.46), Carthage (7:15.01) and Carroll (8:09.28).
 
The men’s 800-yard freestyle relay served as the lone men’s event on the opening night in Pleasant Prairie following the diving portion of the championships held last weekend in Kenosha. Competition continues through Saturday at the RecPlex.
