ELMHURST, Ill. --- After a dominant 7-0 victory over Elmhurst, the North Central women's tennis team is the 2025 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Regular Season Champion for its sixth consecutive title.
The Cardinals opened strong in doubles play, as the sister duo of Eva Zaskowski and Alexandra Zaskowski secured a 6-1 win at No. 2. Kensington Payne and Abigail Penados followed at No. 1 with a 6-0 win to clinch the doubles point, while Sophia Drozd and Kate Herlihy earned a win by walkover at No. 3.
Heading into singles competition, the Cardinals were up 3-0, Kensington Payne clinched the match for North Central at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Abigail Penados followed at No. 1 earning the win with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Liveta Ezerskis defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Kate Herlihy continued the strong showing with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4. To complete the day for the Cardinals, Eva Zaskowski and Sophia Drozd earned points from Elmhurst walkovers at No. 5 and No. 6.
The Cardinals close out their fall season undefeated, finishing 10-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play, while also competing at the Intercolliegate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Central Regional Championships earlier this season. North Central returns to the court in March for their spring schedule, beginning with a spring break trip Mar. 6-12 to Orlando, Fla.
