Rettig, Murphy Earn CCIW Men’s Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

NAPERVILLE — Augustana’s Lucas Rettig and Carthage’s Taydin Murphy have been named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athletes of the Week, announced Wednesday. Rettig powered the Vikings with multiple event wins and relay contributions across two meets, while Murphy opened his season with standout performances and personal bests on both the 1- and 3-meter boards.
 
Swimming: Lucas Rettig, Augustana

Against Loras on Oct. 11, Rettig claimed first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (21.59) and 100 fly (51.46). He also contributed to the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. 
 
Against Colorado College and Grinnell College last Friday and Saturday, Rettig claimed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.60, 50.99 split in the 100 fly in the 400 medley relay. He closed out the meet with a second-place contribution in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
 
Diving: Taydin Murphy, Carthage
Murphy started the season with new dives on 3-meter, winning that board versus Wisconsin-Whitewater with a six-dive score of 216.90. 
 
In 1-meter, the Minooka, Ill. native scored 209.10. The following day at the Wisconsin Showcase, Murphy improved on both boards, scoring 232.38 on 3-meter and 234.68 1-meter.
