CCIW Institutions Announce New Head Coaches in Winter Sports

NAPERVILLE — Institutions in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) have announced new head coaching appointments for the upcoming winter sports season. Across swimming & diving and women’s wrestling, three institutions have added accomplished leaders to guide their programs, bringing a wealth of experience, championship success and deep ties to the conference.

Swimming & Diving
Augustana announced the hiring of Ramsey Vens as the new head coach for the men's and women's swimming & diving programs on June 5. Vens brings extensive coaching experience from the collegiate, club and high school levels, including five seasons as the top assistant coach at St. Ambrose. Under her guidance at St. Ambrose, she trained 21 NAIA All-Americans and led both men's and women's teams to three consecutive Liberal Arts Conference Championships. Vens is a 2010 Augustana graduate and former standout swimmer.

Dan Lloyd, a five-time CCIW Coach of the Year, was appointed as the new director of the Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's swimming and diving programs on April 15. He transitions to IWU after an 11-year run as head coach at Augustana, where he led the Vikings to six CCIW Championships over the past four years, including the women's first title in 25 years and both teams winning in the same season for the first time. During his tenure at Augustana, Lloyd coached 64 CCIW individual champions, two NCAA qualifiers, and achieved an 83-41 dual-meet record. Lloyd is returning to his hometown of Bloomington-Normal to lead the IWU program.

Women’s Wrestling
Carthage announced the hiring of Tarkyia Mensah as the new head coach for the Firebirds women's wrestling program on May 9. Mensah joins Carthage after leading the Schreiner women's wrestling program for three seasons, where her teams secured two SLIAC titles and achieved a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III National Championships. During her tenure, her athletes earned 12 national qualifier spots, two NCAA All-American honors, and 15 Scholar All-American recognitions, with Mensah also being recognized as Regional Coach of the Year and part of the SLIAC Coaching Staff of the Year twice.
