The CCIW Women’s Volleyball Notebook: Unbeaten Leaders Set the Pace

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The race to clinch the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women’s volleyball regular-season championship and secure a spot in the conference tournament continues into the weekend. Carthage College and Illinois Wesleyan University lead the way, both maintaining perfect CCIW records. The Titans stand at 4-0 in league play, while the Firebirds are 3-0.

Both undefeated squads earned sweeps in midweek conference matchups Wednesday. Illinois Wesleyan defeated Elmhurst University, 3-0, while Carthage took down North Central College, 3-0, at home.

In the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/Taraflex poll, Illinois Wesleyan was ranked No. 2 in the country. The Titans will play one conference matchup this weekend, traveling to Augustana College on Friday to face the Vikings at 7 p.m.

A lighter weekend of CCIW action is ahead after the bulk of conference matchups were played during the week. Millikin University will host Carroll University on Friday before teams turn to a full slate of nonconference competition Saturday.

All home CCIW matchups can be found on the CCIW Network, where fans can stream every match live and free.
